We have a Floating License, but today when I started your software I get a warning box. Did our license expire?

Typically All Floating Licenses generated are Permanent (no expire).


Whenever a warning Box is immediately displayed at startup indicates, the application is unable to checkout the floating license.  Here's the most common reasons and tips to solve.


Floating License is already Checked Out be another person.

  1. Wait for the person to close their application, which then frees the floating license so it may be used by you or anyone else at your company.  
  2. Increase the number of Concurrent Floating Licenses.  For example, your floating license permits two concurrent users, then there will still be one floating license available for your checkout (even if someone else has already checkout out a license). Up to 999 concurrent licenses can be available in a Floating License key.


Server has changed HOSTID/HOSTNAME:

Each Floating license key generated is generated to run on a specific server - identified by the servers' HOSTNAME and HOSTID (i.e Ethernet Address).  If the server's HOSTNAME or HOSTID changes the Floating License key will no longer work.

This typically occurs after a company makes significant changes to their server (i.e install new OS or add/replace server devices).  If your servers' HOSTNAME or HOSTID has changed, you will require a new Floating License Key.
