DXF to Gerber and Step/Repeat seams not to work

>>> I have made two similar dxf-files. One with stepped blocks and one without.

Translating both to gerber they are the same size. I expect the file with blocks to be smaller. Shouldn't it? Thanks for helping.

To take advantage of STEP and Repeat codes in DXF files you will need to use the AutoCAD command: MInsert  https://help.autodesk.com/view/ACD/2025/ENU/?guid=GUID-A780A2FA-4A2E-4574-950F-E788AB71F527

  • Then during DXF import options make sure "Explode All Inserts"  is unchecked.
  • Gerber Export Options: Make sure to check the option:  Use Step/Repeat when possible.

ACE includes several DXF examples which include one named:  chem2.dxf   (which contains a block that was Minserted).  The video below shows how to output STEP/Repeat codes in the Gerber files (from chem2.dxf).
