Correct, mapping the path to a drive letter would be the best way to open a file from the network.
FAB 3000/DFM Now! uses a "Cross-Platform" GUI toolkit which allows it to run across various platforms (Windows, Linux, MAC - Soon!), however the Open/Save dialogs are not specifically Windows based so there are some adjustments that need to be made.
However in the next major release, we will add Windows specific Open/Save dialogs.

First time user, so it could easily be me -
I tried several ways to open gerber files from another computer on the network - and it appears that DFM Now! is restricting me to mapped drives.
Is mapping the path to a drive letter the only way to open files from the network?
Open gerber files from network - how?
